Jorge Escobar Galindo is Of Counsel to the Firm, with extensive experience advising clients on mergers & acquisitions, compliance, corporate law, and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Estudios Palacios Lleras, Jorge practiced with leading law firms in Colombia, served as Legal Advisor to the Superintendent of Companies, and was a member of the Legal Vice Presidency of one of Latin America’s leading energy companies.

Throughout his professional career, Jorge has advised on numerous M&A transactions in Colombia and Latin America across a wide range of industries, particularly in the energy sector. He has also developed a distinguished compliance practice, assisting companies in the design, implementation, and assessment of compliance programs relating to anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), and competition law.

He played an active role in Colombia’s accession process to the OECD in matters concerning the fight against transnational bribery, contributing to the drafting of Act 1778 of 2016 (the Colombian Anti-Bribery Act) and the regulatory framework governing corporate anti-corruption compliance programs. He has been recognized by the renowned international publication The Legal 500 Latin America in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions.

He received his law degree from Universidad de los Andes, where he also obtained postgraduate specializations in Commercial Law and Public Management and Administrative Institutions. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.), with a concentration in International Business Law, from Boston University.
